Mr. 6 and the Pharaoh's Treasure

An interactive game I conceived and created to mark the exhibition of artifacts from Egypt and King Tut's tomb when it made its Philadelphia stop at the Franklin Institute. The flash-base game is a side-scroller that was created in 2 parts . Buick became a sponsor of the 2nd part and participants used the game as a portal to enter to win tickets to the exhibit. You can see and play archived versions of Part I of Mr. 6 and the Pharaoh's Treasure and Part II of Mr. 6 and the Pharaoh's Treasure

LIVE Chat with Axl Heck from ABC's "The Middle"

As part of the publicity campaign for the 2011 6abc/Boscov's Thanksgiving Day Parade, actor Charlie McDermott from ABC's sitcom "The Middle" came to the 6abc studios for our 4pm newscast. We set up an online chat so fans could ask questions and get responses from Charlie live during Action News the night before Thanksgiving. Here's an archive of the event.

Thanksgiving Eve LIVE Chat with Axl Heck from ABC's "The Middle" and Kristen Alderson from "General Hospital"

When the 6abc/Boscov's Thanksgiving Day Parade arrived for 2012, Charlie McDermott made a return appearance, and Kristen Alderson came along as well. This event presented a small challenge, because we wanted to emphasize they were both with us at the same time, but yet allow them to interact with their fans on an individual basis. You can check out the online solution we developed.

Philadelphia Towing Hot Spots

When Action News launched a report into the towing hot spots in the city, we were faced with a dilemma. The Philadelphia Parking Authority provided the data for every ticket written through 2013 and part of 2014. The issue: The data table measured 23,000 rows. I compressed the data by combining various entries for the same location, and came up with the map used for our report. You can follow this link to the map of the top 100 spots for towable citations in Philadelphia. For more details about the report read the story at this link.

Suppress Your Mess

An interactive event on 6abc.com created for National Get Organized Month in January.

I conceived of, designed and wrote this online event, which was eventually co-opted by the Sales Department and sponsored by IKEA. It then grew to include some on-air reports involving a local member of the National Association of Professional Organizers that followed the weekly posting of articles online.

Brutus the Crocodile

When a photo of a 3-legged crocodile appears on national television, people will usually talk about it. But when they started talking that the photo was likely faked, I became curious and set out to figure it out. The story ending up taking me through the world of "Photoshopping" images and how to tell if they're fake. Read about Brutus.

LOST Lottery numbers

A fun little article I put together showing that when several of the "cursed lottery numbers" from the ABC hit drama "LOST" were actually drawn during the Mega Millions lottery on January 4, 2011. Some quick research showed there was a spike in the winners because of the "LOST" numbers.

Tale of the Tape

Back in the days before Flash started to become a bad word for the internet, this Flash-based animated graphic was born to help preview 6abc's weekly online-only streams of high school football games. Producers could update stats in the station's Content Management System and the animation would dynamically update with the new information for each of the teams set to play in the upcoming game.
